Gondoles qui cèdent à Whistler
Comme vous le savez sûrement déjà, un poteau de la gondole Excalibur à Whislter a cédé mardi dernier. Heureusement, aucun blessé sérieux.
Drôle de hasard, je skiais à Whislter cette journée-là et je m’apprêtais à prendre cette gondole à la fin de ma journée. Étant donné qu’il n’y avait pas beaucoup de neige, le bas de la montagne était fermé et l’on devait monter et redescendre le bas en gondole. En descendant à pied le bas de la montagne, j’ai pu apercevoir au loin le poteau qui a fendu. Être descendu de la montagne 20 minutes plus tôt, je me serais sûrement fait prendre.

This article from the BBC just makes me want to smile.
The site (TorrentFreak) reported 1.7m illegal downloads of Spore since the game was released in September 2008.
Electronic Arts (EA) said it sold nearly 2m copies of the game.
Will Wright’s other big-selling title – The Sims 2 – came second on the list with 1,150,000 copies downloaded.
TorrentFreak said that Spore’s Digital Rights Management (DRM) software – which came in for considerable criticism when the game was released – was one of the reasons the game was so prolifically pirated.

That DRM was well worth it!
SQLite3, php5 and MAMP

To make this short, php5 doesn’t come with sqlite3 support out of the box. My setup is as follows :
- SQLite3 installed through MacPorts
- php5 used through MAMP
I used the php-sqlite3 extension. When you run phpize, make sure you are actually using the one from MAMP by calling it with its full path /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize.
I then complied the extension with the following flags (both paths are the defaults for macports and MAMP) :
./configure --with-sqlite3=/opt/local/ --with-php-config=/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/php-config
The make install didn’t copy the librarie to the right php folder :
>make install Installing shared extensions: /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/
Make sure that folder is the right one. You can find your dynamic extensions folder in your php.ini file
